ChillCast tracks chill hours for fruit trees using historical weather data. On first launch, set your location using the location button or by entering coordinates manually.
Chill hours measure the amount of cold exposure fruit trees receive during winter dormancy. Most deciduous fruit trees need a minimum number of chill hours to produce fruit properly.
ChillCast supports three models: 45°F Hours (traditional, counts hours between 0-7.2°C), Utah (weighted by temperature band), and Dynamic (Fishman-Erez, best for mild climates).
Weather data comes from Open-Meteo, which provides ERA5 reanalysis data from the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF). This data covers the entire globe.
