Last updated: September 6, 2026 (applies to ChillCast 1.2.0 and later)
ChillCast is a chill hours tracker for fruit trees. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.
Approximate location data: When you grant permission, ChillCast accesses your device location solely to retrieve regional weather estimates. Coordinates are rounded to 0.1° (approximately 11 km) and sent directly to NASA POWER and, in ChillCast 1.2.0 and later, to Apple Weather. They are not sent to or stored on any server we operate.
Saved locations: Orchard locations you save are stored locally on your device using UserDefaults. They are not transmitted to any external service.
Purchase information: In-app purchases are processed entirely by Apple through StoreKit. We do not collect or store any payment information.
Anonymous usage data: ChillCast 1.2.0 and later use Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) to count anonymous in-app events such as opening a season result, viewing the Pro screen, and completing a purchase. This data is not linked to your identity, does not include your coordinates, location names, or selected varieties, and does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA). It is used only to improve the app. Firebase also records in-app purchase events (product and price, not linked to you) and may derive an approximate region from your IP address. You can turn this off at any time with the "Send anonymous usage data" switch in the app menu. See Google's Privacy Policy.
We do not collect personal information, advertising identifiers, or any data used to track you across apps and websites. ChillCast does not show ads and does not use advertising SDKs. There is no account.
NASA POWER: Regional hourly temperature estimates are retrieved from the NASA POWER API. NASA does not endorse ChillCast.
Apple Weather (WeatherKit): Where available, recent temperatures and forecasts for your approximate location are retrieved from Apple Weather to show today's accumulation and a short-term outlook. See Apple Weather data sources.
Firebase Analytics: Anonymous usage events are processed by Google. See Firebase Privacy and Security.
Apple StoreKit: In-app purchases are handled by Apple. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
Locations, tracked varieties, and cached chill values are stored locally on your device. Uninstalling ChillCast removes all stored data. Anonymous usage events are retained by Firebase Analytics for up to 14 months.
ChillCast is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from children.
